Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan has asked the City Legal Office to look into laws that prohibits too much profit of oil companies with the continuing surge of oil prices in the city of Baguio during the weekly Ugnayan media forum at the Baguio City Hall last week. The city government of Baguio thru the office of the City Mayor, City Council and Congressman Mark Go have been identifying measures to lessen and keep the prices of oil in the city comparable to prevailing fuel rates in other areas. 14,000 memberss vote for beneco conversion

BAGUIO CITY - With no vote to the contrary, 14,010 members of the Benguet Electric Cooperative (Beneco) opted in three annual general membership assemblies to convert the power distribution firm into a stock cooperative.

"Conversion into a genuine cooperative is our only shield against capital speculators eyeing to buy Beneco, especially now that it has developed into one of the country's most viable power distribution system," explained general manager Gerardo Verzosa.

RDC, RPOC commend Baguio, MP cops

LAGAWE, Ifugao June 20 - The Cordillera Regional development Council (RDC-CAR) and the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC-CAR) passed a resolution commending the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) and the Mountain Province Provincial Police Office (MPPO) for their outstanding and exemplary accomplishments in law enforcement and peacekeeping strategies that contributed in the improvement of the peace and order situation in their areas of jurisdiction.

Proposal to remove terrorist tag on 7 Cordillerans deferred

LAGAWE, Ifugao June 20 – The Cordillera Regional Development Council (RDC-CAR) and the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC-CAR) deferred passing a resolution urging the Department of Justice (DOJ) to drop the 'terrorist tag' against seven Cordilleran human and indigenous peoples' rights defenders.

Waste disposal facility site expanded to 29.22 hectares

BAGUIO CITY June 21 – Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan announced that the Benguet Corporation (BC) already agreed to expand the area subject to the deed of usufruct for the city's proposed integrated solid waste management facility from the original 24.11 hectares to some 29.22 hectares within its Antamok open pit site to include the identified suitable area for the put up of the required facilities.

BAGUIO CITY June 21 – Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan expressed his all-out support to the recent order handed down by president Rodrigo R. Duterte for the members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to arrest bystanders to help improve the overall peace and order situation in the country.

New brgy, sk officials urged to strengthen badac

BAGUIO CITY – Newly elected barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan officials should prioritize the strengthening of their Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) programs to weed out drug addiction in their areas of responsibility.

The City Council made this call via Resolution No. 187-18 moved and adopted by all members last June 11 and signed by Mayor Mauricio Domogan last week.

City adopts new burnham biking rental guidelines

BAGUIO CITY – The City Council adopted an ordinance setting new guidelines for the operation of "non-motorized wheeled vehicle" rental concessions at Burnham Park.

Ordinance No. 77-18 tagged as the "Burnham Park Non-Motorized Wheeled Vehicle rental Ordinance amended Ordinance No. 243-56 which regulates and fixes the rates of the operation of recreation vehicles at the park.

BAGUIO CITY June 19 – The City Council approved on first reading a proposed ordinance requiring all malls, department stores, groceries, convenient stores and other similar business establishments operating in the city to provide closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras and x-ray machines in their baggage counters.

Intensify drive vs. stray animals

BAGUIO CITY – The City Council sought an intensified campaign against stray dogs in the city via Resolution No. 182-18 where the councilors asked the City Veterinary Office to strictly implement Ordinance No. 25-2000 on dogs and public animal pound and Mayor Mauricio Domogan to deputize barangay officials, tanods, policemen and garbage collectors to seize stray animals.
