Spring festival outstanding citizens honored

BAGUIO CITY – The Filipino-Chinese community honored four outstanding citizens of the city during the Spring Festival main program last January 21 at the Hotel Supreme.

The awardees chosen by the screening committee were:

*Mrs. Estrella B. Tano was cited in the field of Public Service having served as a dedicated government employee for 41 years. She is the former city assessor that initiated the computerization of the records of the Assessor's office and Geographic Information System at the tax mapping division. She continues to be active in outreach programs in the religious sector and in the Zonta Club benefiting the indigents of the city;

Jeepney loading areas allocated

BAGUIO CITY – Administrative Order 4, series of 2012 which allocates loading areas along Perfecto street and Harrison road for Aurora Hill and Trancoville public utility jeepneys, stays as is, Mayor Mauricio Domogan clarified last week.

Accordingly, the said loading areas need signages which are now being prepared and shall be installed the earliest, within this week.

Uniforms for drivers and conductors clarified

BAGUIO CITY – Unless a counter directive is received, jeepney and taxi drivers, bus conductors, drivers and inspectors are required to don their color-coded uniforms while plying their routes in the city, as issued in Administrative Order 008, 2012 of Mayor Mauricio Domogan.

Clarifications are in order, as according to Perfecto Itliong, Federation President, Regional Transport Coordinator-CAR, the AO issued was in accordance with a Memorandum Order of the Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) as to the provisions requiring uniforms for personnel while on duty.

Kids' parade opens flower festival on feb. 1

BAGUIO CITY- Fourteen (14) elementary schools; with children-participants and their own drum and lyre groups playing the now familiar Panagbenga tune shall kick-off the Baguio Flower Festival, on Wednesday, Feb. 1, with a parade along Session and Harrison roads, and a dance showdown at the Athletic Bowl, Burnham Park.

Pupils of La Trinidad Central School and Camp 3 Elementary School of Tuba, Benguet joins the competition, tagging along their musicians and instruments, with flowers and country style costumes and accessories. The participating schools each have at least fifty to a hundred participants.
