Mayor says EMB backs ECC for ESL

BAGUIO CITY – There might be hope for the planned Engineered Sanitary Landfill (ESL) for Baguio-La Trinidad-Itogon-Sablan-Tuba-Tublay (BLISTT).

This was revealed by Mayor Mauricio Domogan Wednesday during the Weekly Ugnayan presser here.

The mayor said the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) voted 17-0 in support of the issuance of the Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) which is a vital requirement to commence the planned ESL in Barangay Ampucao.

LGUs to enjoy independence even with autonomy

TUBA, Benguet, August 03 – Barangays, municipalities, cities and provinces will continue to enjoy independence from each other even if the Cordillera will become autonomous, a private sector representative of the Regional Development Council (RDC) in the Cordillera said.

Dr. Peter M. Cosalan, Benguet's private sector representative to the RDC-CAR, said the local governments hosting mining, hydroelectric and other companies exploiting, utilizing and developing resources will be the ones to directly benefit from such operations contrary to the fear of some people that other local governments outside the host communities will also take part in the share of the host communities from the national wealth tax equivalent to 40 percent.

Mayor wants independent audit of John Hay contract

BAGUIO CITY, August 03 – Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan wants both the State-owned Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) and the Sobrepena-owned Camp John Hay Development Corporation (CJHDevCo) to sit down in arbitration and work out an independent audit of the 50-year lease agreement of the 247-hectare John Hay Special Economic Zone (JHSEZ) instead of trading allegations through paid advertisements in the media.

Mayor seeks cooperation from vendors

BAGUIO CITY – The city government here have opened up selected spaces in the city's public market for sidewalk vendors to sell their wares.

Mayor Mauricio Domogan during the weekly Ugnayan presser Wednesday said 25 stalls at Block 3 have been made available to accommodate vendors who wish to avail of the same.
