Mayor cites city's sports achievements

BAGUIO CITY – In his State of the City Address, Mayor Mauricio Domogan said that in the field of sports, the city's commitment to develop world class athletic performance in various sporting events has borne good results.

"We now have a stable of excellent and home-grown athletes. For the record, we have 17 athletes who have represented the city and established their niche in the world arena of sports. Among them are Eduard Folayang and others," he pointed out.

City government bent on pursuing e-governance

BAGUIO CITY – The City Government is bent on pursuing programs to transform into an e-government through the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and other web-based telecommunication technologies to improve the delivery of public service.

Mayor Mauricio Domogan bared this in his state-of-the-city address (SOCA) last Monday (July 31).

Two more centenarians honored

BAGUIO CITY – Two more centenarians were honored by the City Government in separate resolutions approved by the City Council last Monday.

They were Leonila Mailig Abreu of Gen. Emilio F. Aguinaldo-Lower QM Brgy. who was born on July 15, 1917 and Gabriel Gallardo Abellada Sr. of South Central, Aurora Hill Brgy who was born on Feb. 20, 1917.

Parks, tourist spots personnel undergo cpr training

BAGUIO CITY – Some 1,000 personnel and service providers in the city's various parks, city market and other tourist spots availed of the free training on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) last July 28 to enable them to attend to heart disease-related emergencies in their places of work.

Councilor Elmer Datuin said this is in line with the city's aim of making its tourist spots "CPR-ready" to enhance services to visitors and residents especially in life-threatening emergencies.

BGH to put up 2 parking buildings

BAGUIO CITY August 01 – The administration of the State-run Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) will put up two parking structures within its compound to help ease the daily monstrous traffic jams around the hospital and provide adequate parking areas for its patients and visitors.

Dr. Ricardo Ruñez, BGHMC medical center chief, said the short term plan of the hospital will be the construction of a 3-storey parking structure near the administration building that could accommodate more than 50 parking slots for its patients and visitors aside from relocating the hospital's emergency room nearer to Kennon road so that patients being brought for emergency purposes could be given immediate medical attention.
