COMELEC junks election case versus local exec

BAGUIO CITY October 19 – The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) en banc dismissed the petition for disqualification filed by Atty. Jose M. Molintas, the losing mayoralty candidate in the May 2013 mid-term elections, against incumbent Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan for lack of merit.

In a certificate of finality issued by Acting Clerk Atty. Abigail Justine M. Cuaresma-Lilagan dated September 29, 2017, the poll body decided to uphold the resolution promulgated on October 19, 2015 which dismissed the disqualification case filed against Domogan and declared the same final and executory.

Porters tapped to implement local ordinances

BAGUIO CITY October 19 – The local government tapped the services of the hundreds of porters in the city public market to implement the various local ordinances that will help in maintaining the cleanliness and peace and order in the city's premier public facility Councilor Leandro B. Yangot, Jr., chairman of the City Council Committee on Market, Trade and Commerce and Agriculture, said that local officials had already consulted the groups of porters in the various sections of the public market for them to augment the local police force in the enforcement of the various local ordinances that will help in improving the cleanliness around the market and prevent the occurrence of incidents that will taint a bade image of the city, especially among visitors.

"We are elated that our porters in the market agreed to help in the enforcement of our approved local ordinances so that we will be able to improve the overall condition of the market which is our show window for our visitors., considering that Baguio is one of the preferred tourist destinations in the country," Yangot stressed.

North Luzon tourism forum and career fair successful

BAGUIO CITY October 19 - The Regional Tourism Department launched the 1st North Philippines Tourism Forum and Career Fair which aims to highlight the rise of the Cordillera region as a meeting, incentive travel, convention, and exhibition career hub for tourism.

During its formal launching at the CAP Convention Center at Camp John Hay, DOT Cordillera Regional Director Marie Venus Tan emphasized the need to strengthen the human resource base for tourism particularly in the hotel and restaurants, cruise, airlines and aviation, and the travel and tours industry not only in Cordillera, but for Regions 1, 2 and 3 which will help spur the sustained growth of the industry in the said areas.

DOT launches Bring Home a Friend program

BAGUIO CITY October 19 - Entries are now being accepted for the Department of Tourism’s “Bring Home a Friend” (BHAF) program which seeks to give an incentive and encourages Filipinos to help promote tourism by inviting foreign friends for “a reunion of sorts in the different turist destinations in the country.

During the launching of the 1st North Philippines Tourism Forum and Career Fair Tourism, Assistant Secretary Frederick Alegre explained that the program may be considered as a reunion of sorts to redefine Philippine tourism in a bid to sustain the increase in foreign arrivals considering that there are bright prospects for tourism in the country in the future.

Baguio is 1st year CROWN awardee

BAGUIO CITY - Being one of the contender for the National Nutrition Award, the city of Baguio was recognized and awarded as the 1st year Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner on Nutrition (CROWN) in the city category.

The city of government here was feted last October 19 at the Hotel Supreme during the 2017 Regional Nutrition Awarding ceremony.

Secretary to the mayor Rafael Tallocoy and city health officer Dr. Rowena Galpo received the plaque of recognition.
