Water system rehab at city hall proposed

BAGUIO CITY- The city council last week approved on first reading the proposed resolution of Councilor Betty Lourdes Tabanda for the immediate rehabilitation of the water system at city hall.

In the proposed resolution, the councilor requested the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO), City Building and Architecture Office, and other concerned offices to repair said water system and impounding facilities.

A water containment facility and a supply system has earlier been installed within city hall to provide adequate water for cleaning purposes.

Wear and tear however has eroded the sytem, affecting its efficiency and safety.

Councilor Tabanda stated in the proposal that an inspection and assessment of the facilities should be done the soonest so that funds could be sourced out and scheduled. Said facilities should be repaired to allow rainwater impounding, thus, be in harmony with resource conservation.

Councilor Tabanda has been consistent in proposing for such environmental-friendly projects, including rainwater impounding in the schools, households and the barangays to conserve water. This is also in response to climate change, which is being felt globally.

Due to the urgency of the matter, the proposal is expected to be tackled very soon in the council. –juliegfianza
