DTI harmonizes programs with TESDA, CDA to bring quality services to the public

LOAKAN, Baguio City—Pursuant to Department Order No.19-49 issued by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the DTI in the Cordillera region conducted the first collaborative project with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) in the form of a trainer's training.

"Community based training for out of school youth, housewives and primarily addressed to the poor and marginalized groups. This is one area where our agencies could collaborate," said Engr. Manuel Wong, TESDA acting regional director on Wednesday.

During the trainer's training, Wong presented the value chain framework of TESDA. He noted, "With the program of TESDA, the value chain analysis could be pictured as the individuals or cooperatives availing trainings that are expected to apply the skills gained in possible entrepreneurial endeavors with the assistance of CDA and DTI."

He also said that the involvement of other agencies will be critical to make the whole value chain work.

It can be recalled that President Rodrigo Duterte issued Executive Order (EO) 67 effectively transferring TESDA from the Office of the President (OP) to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to, among others, promote greater efficiency, agency convergence and participatory governance in the delivery of essential public services.

TNK is the DTI's blueprint for decent job creation in the Philippines through employment and entrepreneurship for 2017-2022.
