Baguio cops launch new peace and order programs

BAGUIO CITY May 23 – The leadership of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) recently launched a series of programs and projects to help make the country's Summer Capital a safer place to study, work, live in and do business in the coming months.

BCPO officer-in-charge Police Col. Allen Rae F. Co said that to sustain the favourable peace and order situation in the city, unity among residents and visitors coming from different parts of the world is vital, thus, the local police force launched the Project Keep All of Baguio Safe and Thriving (KABSAT) recently at the SM City Baguio Atrium, supported and attended by leaders and representatives of different religious groups, non-government organizations, national government agencies, cultural groups and private individuals, and Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan.

Through an inter-faith and inter-agency collaboration, teamwork and communication, the police official underscored that people can conquer threats of terrorism and disunity in the city.

He added the launching of the Project KABSAT will be followed by a series of engagements, programs and activities to strengthen the relationship among the police, the residents, stakeholders and religious groups in the coming days.

"We are also crafting and finalizing Operation Plan SOMABAT which is the master action and patrol plan of the local police force incorporating the movements of all our mobile, motorcycle and beat patrollers to bring them to the parts of the city where and when they are most needed," Co stressed.

The BCPO officer claimed that the Operation Plan will integrate all the active and passive police stations and activities to fulfil the main mandates of the police of solving and preventing crimes in the different parts of the city.

According to him, another project of the BCPO in the offing is the launching and implementation of the tourism-oriented program "Bastia Co, Alga Co," where the local police force will ensure that all visitors and tourists coming to the city will feel the sense of security and safety all throughout the duration of their stay in the city with its Mantra "Kappa Luisita Ka Sa Baguio, Alga Ka ng BCPO."

With all the BCPO's accomplishments and plans moving forward, BCPO is on its way of achieving its target and vision of making Baguio not only the 6th Safest City but the Safest City in the whole Southeast Asian region.

He assured that the local police force will commit more of its efforts to deliver better services to the residents and visitors alike, thus, the BCPO leadership is grateful to the different stakeholders, the local government led by Mayor Domogan, and every individual in the community who, in one way or another, helped in their endeavour of giving quality service and protection to the people, making it safer not only for the residents, but also for those people who have come to love Baguio as their own.

BCPO's advocacy is focused on the belief that Baguio should be for all religions, all races, and all people for them to co-exist and thrive together to attain a safer place to live in, work, study and do business.
