Entrepreneurial training set for barangay, youth chiefs

Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo is encouraging barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan chairs to attend the second "Negosyo sa Barangay Entrepreneurship Development Training: The Next Level" set for the Luzon Cluster on May 30 to June 2.

In a memorandum circular, Robredo said the seminar "is the next phase in a series of clustered trainngs designed to further enhance the capability of the barangays on entrepreneurial development".

He said it was designed to be in-depth and comprehensive, focused on how the barangay and SK chiefs "can promote entrepreneurship in their respective barangays and spur economic development and help their constituents move out of poverty".

The seminar is under a tie-up of the Department of trade and Industry-Philippine Trade Training Center, the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship and the Center for Future Leadership.

Robredo asked provincial governors, city and town mayors, Liga ng Mga Barangay presidents and SK presidents to encouraged their punong barangays and SK chairs to attend the four-day training.

Trainees are allowed to charge P7,500 training fee aside from travel expenses to local funds, except from the 20 percent development fund or other source which may prejudice poverty reduction efforts.

The training for the Visayas cluster is set on Sept. 13-1'6 while that of the Mindanao cluster will be on Novembere 8-11.

Robredo directed DILG regional directors to cause the widest dissemination of the memorandum circular.
