City high, central school adjudged best brigada implementers in car

BAGUIO CITY – The Baguio City National High School and the Baguio Central School were adjudged as best implementers of the Brigada Eskwela program in their respective categories in the Cordillera Administrative Region.

The BCNHS under Principal IV Brenda Carino topped the secondary mega category while the BCS under Principal Dr. Esther Litilit ruled the elementary mega division.

They were awarded in ceremonies conducted by the Department of Education Cordillera (DepEd CAR) last Nov. 21.

Also awarded were Quezon Hill Elementary and Happy Hallow National High School which placed second in the elementary large and secondary small categories respectively and Sto. Tomas National High School which garnered third place in the secondary medium group.

Adjudged finalists were Happy Hallow Elementary School (elementary small), Adiwang Elementary School (elementary medium) and Mil-an National High School (secondary large).

Mayor Mauricio Domogan who attended the awarding program lauded the winning schools for realizing the brigada program's tenets of unity and cooperation amidst the challenges.

Also known as the National Schools Maintenance Week, the annual brigada campaign runs weeks before the opening of classes nationwide with the aim of engaging "all education stakeholders to contribute their time, effort and resources in ensuring that public school facilities are prepared in time for the forthcoming school opening."

The contest also held annually seeks to provide incentives for schools that perform best in the campaign.

The search criteria included scope of work or the completion of repair and maintenance work on school improvement plan; diverse volunteer participation or the involvement of private sector, community and government agencies; conversion of generated resources into worthy projects; and the alignment of the maintenance effort to the current Brigada theme.

For 2018, the program's theme was "Pagkakaisa para sa Handa, Ligtas, at Matatag na Paaralan Tungo sa Magandang Kinabukasan." – Aileen P. Refuerzo
