Female dorm declared drug-cleared after being proclaimed tobacco-free

BAGUIO CITY – The Baguio City Female Dormitory has been declared as drug-cleared or drug-free jail facility.

This after the facility headed by Jail Warden J/C Insp. April Rose Ayangwa satisfied the parameters as validated by the Oversight Committee on Declaring Drug-Cleared and Drug-Free Jail Facilities Cordillera.

o be declared drug-cleared the facility should have been able to remove drug personalities from jail and/or from the drug watch list; should have no drug pushers and illegal drug activities or unlawful acts, no illegal drugs, paraphernalia and other substances during the conduct of search and seizure operations for three consecutive months; should have conducted advocacy campaign and symposium and completed intervention programs.

To be pronounced as drug-free, there should be no drug personalities in the jail facility from the drug watch list, no drug users and illegal drug activities or unlawful acts, no illegal drugs, paraphernalia and other substances and there should be an advocacy campaign and symposium conducted.

In November last year, the female dorm was conferred the Department of Health Red Orchid Award for being 100 percent tobacco-free in ceremonies held Nov. 9 in Laoag City.

It was the second time that the dorm obtained the prestigious award.

The drug-cleared/free award was received by Ayangwa last Monday from the Regional Oversight Committee chaired by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Cordillera (PDEA-CAR) Regional Director Edgar Apalla and city officials led by Mayor Mauricio Domogan and Rep. Mark Go. –Aileen P. Refuerzo
