DOT Chief hails Panagbenga as "most orderly" festival

BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Mauricio Domogan revealed that Tourism Sec. Wanda Teo and members of the national media were all praises for the just concluded Baguio Flower Festival or Panagbenga and called it as the "most orderly, disciplined and peaceful" festival in the country.

In Monday's flag-raising rites at City Hall, the Mayor said it was Sec. Teo's first time to witness the Panagbenga's street dancing and float parades and was "very impressed".

He added that the Baguio Flower Festival is the only Philippine festival recognized by the US-based International Association of Festivals.

"Panagbenga's success can be attributed to the continued partnership between the government and private sector and participation of the entire community. Let us not forget that this is our festival," the Mayor stressed.

This year's 25th Panagbenga celebration was chaired by councilor Elmer Datuin and carried the theme, "Celebrating Culture and Creativity" in view of Baguio's recent inclusion in UNESCO's creative cities network for crafts and folk arts.-gaby keith
