Ortega named to vacant council seat

BAGUIO CITY January 12 – President Rodrigo R. Duterte approved the appointment of the son of the late Councilor Roberto "Bobby" Ortega to succeed him after his untimely demise last July 30, 2917.

The appointment papers of Francisco Roberto Pacoy Ortega VI, 29, and a bonafide member of the United Nationalist Alliance 9UNA0, was signed by the President on December 29 2018 and was made available to the local government recently.

The young Ortega will serve the unexpired term of his late father as a member of the local legislative body after he was recommended by the UNA leadership to be appointed for the said post.

Ortega is a graduate of the course Bachelor of Science in Criminology at the St. John Bosco College in San Fernando City, La Union.

He reportedly possesses good leadership and management skills while being a dedicated and hardworking individual who is willing to take tasks and responsibilities with the ability to learn and grasp new things and a good inter-personal skill.

Further, Ortega is said to have the ability to adjust and cope with diversed and changing work conditions and situations.

He is a motor sports and racing enthusiast and knows how to effectively manage his time.

Ortega is the president of the Junior Chamber International – San Fernando 'Saluyot' chapter and founder of the Team La Union Auto Group.

He is the current advisers of the Barkada Kontra Droga, Baguio United Non-Government Organization (BUNGO), Motorcycle Club of La Union, La Union Vibrant Riders and La Union Pick-up Enthusiasts Team PH.

Ortega wants to work and serve in a well-established and service-oriented establishments that will result to his personal growth, enhancement of his abilities and knowledge leading to professional maturity and notable contributions to the various industries and even public service.

It can be recalled that the older Ortega succumbed to a lingering illness in July last year and eventually result to his seat in the local legislative body being declared vacant by virtue of the operation of law.

Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan, who is the chair of the Una in Baguio and the Cordillera, subsequently nominated the younger Ortega to replace his father in the same post and serve his unexpired term.

The order Ortega served as the chief of police of Baguio City in the late 19080s wherein the city was adjudged to have the significant decrease in crimes by as much as 95 during his watch and was eventually elected as a 3-term councilor from 1995 to 2004 before he was again elected as a local legislator in the 2013 and 2016 elections.

Domogan disclosed that for as long as Ortega's documents is complete as released by the Office of the President, he can already assume his position and start serving the people of the city and that he is expected to work for the benefit of the people of the city.
