City issues 49 demolition orders

BAGUIO CITY – The city legal office (CLO) under lawyer Melchor Rabanes has issued a total of 200 resolutions, 62 notices of demolition and 49 demolition orders on squatting cases in the Summer Capital from January to November this year.

This was revealed in Monday's flag-raising rites at City Hall before officials and employees led by Mayor Mauricio Domogan.

His office rendered 24 legal opinions, handled 225 outgoing communications, drafted and reviewed 348 contracts and agreements and assisted 2,367 clients during the period.

The CLO has also filed 122 pleadings and other communications with the various courts including the Supreme Court and other government agencies.

The report revealed that the CLO has 380 pending cases as of 2016 and has received 60 cases as of November, this year, for a total of 440. The total number of cases it has disposed of in 2017 so far is 30.

Domogan praised the CLO that despite its being the smallest office in the city government with only six lawyers and a staff of five, it continues to effectively and efficiently serve the public.-gaby keith
