Taxi drivers required to help passengers with baggage

BAGUIO CITY – Taxi drivers are required to help their passengers with their baggage.

Mayor Mauricio Domogan signed City Council Resolution No. 390 series of 2017 originally proposed by Senior Citizen Official For-a-Day councilor Luz Abella and adopted by the august body last Nov. 13 reminding taxi drivers of their responsibility to help passengers load and unload their luggage.

Abella noted that passengers usually ride taxi cabs when they are carrying heavy baggage.

However, there were instances when the passengers encounter difficulty in loading and unloading their baggage and the taxi drivers just ignore them.

"Taxi drivers should not forget the hospitality and care instilled in our culture especially for the elderly and pregnant (thus they) they must be prompted (and reminded) on this," Abella said.

The council committee on public utilities, transportation and traffic legislation headed by Councilor Benny Bomogao recommended adoption of Abella's proposal which all aldermen agreed to co-author. – Aileen P. Refuerzo
