City receives school buildings from various groups

BAGUIO CITY - When it rains it pours... After the city government of Baguio contracted with Protect Machinery Corp (PMC) to build the first of its kind   Japanese made state of the art Environmental Recycling System (ERS) entire the country, nearby provinces and municipalities headed by Benguet Governor Nestor Fongwan, La Trinidadmayor Greg Abalos, Tublay Mayor Ruben Paod and Dagupan City Tourism Officer Rosemarie Teng Mejia  came to up to observe  with an interest to  use the same technology.

By promoting ERS Machines, PMC president Katsotushi Shimizu, also the president of Shimizu and Company LTD who is one of the leading shipping business in Japan, promised Mayor Mauricio Domogan to donate a public school building as a token of gratitude to the city government during a brief courtesy call at the Mayor'sOffice February 8, a day before the inauguration and blessing of the two units of ERS Machines at the  Irisan Dumpsite.

Also,On February 10, a four-man delegation from Nagoya Honmaru Lions Club (NHLC) from Japan headed by 1st Vice President Sotaro Nishioka,a sister club of Pines City Lions Club (PCLC) headed by president PSupt. Engelbert Soriano paid a courtesy visit to  the Mayor's Office informing Mayor Domogan of a  Memorandum Of Agreement entered  into between NHLC, PCLC, the city government of Baguio and the Department of Education represented by City  Schools Division Superintendent Ellen Donato to donate a school building from the Lions Club International  Foundation (LCF) through the joint efforts of Pines and Honmaru which will be known as LCIF building to be constructed at Bonifacio Elementary School.

An amount of US 160,00 dollars equivalent to P7 million donated by NHLC will be used for the construction of the school building at the end of March or early month of April this year to house the Home Economics Room, Day Care Center, Alternative Learning System Training Center for single/unemployed mothers and will include a deep well and a water tank to improve the water supply system and to insure sanitation.

"The LCIF building is expected to be finished on November 20 this year in time to coincidewith   the  Lions Clubs in Southeast Asia Convention  which will be held in Metro Manila" PCLC president and project implementor Engelbert Soriano said.

Meanwhile, the Filipino-Chamber of Commerce through a letter dated January 13 by !st Vice President Alfred Co An intends  to donate ( with a counter part amount from the city government)  four public school buildings, one in Irisan National High School and the rest are given  to Mayor Domogan the authority to identify relative to the need for an  additional school buildings.

"This is a nationwide project of the association but we can dedicate a total amount of P370,000 (for each school buildings)  for the project for the construction of the school buildings for the public schools in the City of Baguio only" Co An said in his letter.
