Mayor supportive of 'right to reply bill'

BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Mauricio Domogan Wednesday (January 9) expressed full support to Senate Bill No. 2150 and House Bill 3306 here.

SB 2150 was filed by Senators Aquilino Pimental, Ramon Revilla, Jr. and Francis Escudero in 2008 and is still pending in the Senate.

Overhauled lake ready by Feb

BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Mauricio Domogan is counting on the assurance of the contractor of the Burnham Lake project to finish its work here in time for the Panagbenga Activities.

Domogan said he was assured by the contractor that dredging operations of Burnham Lake will be finished within 30 days.

MAYOR REMINDS PBs ON SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT

BAGUIO CITY - Although most of the barangays are observing the solid waste management, there were reports from garbage collectors that there are still some barangays who are not dutiful in segregating their wastes. "Please reiterate and remind your constituents to segregate their garbage", said Mayor Domogan to the punong barangays during the regular monthly meeting of punong barangays with the city mayor last week at the City Hall Multi Purpose Hall, Baguio City.

Mayor bullish on taxpayers' sustained cooperation

BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Mauricio Domogan Wednesday expressed confidence that businessmen will continue to cooperate with the city government in the prompt payment of their tax obligation to enable the city to again meet if not surpass its revenue targets and ensure smooth delivery of public service and implementation of priority projects.

CITY MULLS ADDITIONAL MANPOWER TO DIFFERENT STRATEGIC AREAS

BAGUIO CITY - "The problem on sidewalk vending is worsening in the city because of some willful vendors", Mayor Domogan said in his weekly press conference last January 9. The city cannot keep an eye on the different strategic areas in the central business district from illegal vendors because there are only 29 POSD personnel of the Mayor's Office. Thus, Mayor Domogan asked for available funds for the hiring additional manpower to monitor ambulant vendors.

15 Firecracker-related injuries mar holidays in the city

BAGUIO CITY – As of early morning of Jan. 3, the Department of Health (DOH) regional office reported that Baguio has 15 firecracker related burns and eye injuries; up from the 13 thirteen cases last year. Baguio city included, the region has 54 reported cases, 7 from Benguet, 4 from Apayao, 3 from Ifugao, 3 from Kalinga, 4 from Mountain Province, and 18 from Abra which includes a hand amputation. The hand was badly mangled, and amputation is needed to save the person from infection, it was learned.
