BAGUIO CITY – The city's biggest and most colorful activity, the Baguio Flower Festival known as Panagbenga with its hymn featuring Ibaloi rhythm will be launched this Monday, Nov. 5 at the city hall grounds during the flag raising ceremonies.

Panagbenga accredits hobbyists

BAGUIO CITY – Hobbyists and/or free lance photographers should be accredited for the 18th staging of the Baguio Flower Festival slated to start Feb. 1 next year.

This was stated in the guidelines given by the Baguio Flower Festival Foundation Inc. officials; Baguio Country Club General Manager Anthony de Leon and Freddie Alquiros during the launching of Panagbenga last Nov. 5.

Treatment support running out for former factory worker

Thirty seven-year old Abner Libang, a former factory worker in Korea, still has to depend on Alicia, his 61-year old widowed mother , to survive.

Alicia (nee Paciteng), a farmer from Bulalacao, Mankayan, Benguet, lost to illness her husband, Miguel of Bangao, Buguias, Benguet in 1986. Since then, she single-handedly raised their six children, including Abner, the second in the brood.

CITY OF FLOWERS ..ONCE AGAIN

Secretary to the Mayor challenges the employees under the City Environment and Park Management Office (CEPMO) headed by Cordilla Lacsamana to plant more different varieties of flowers and learn more the techniques of propagating flowers to be planted all over the city's parks and barangays to bring back the City of Baguio as the "City of Flowers" in the country. The city government is encouraging city gardeners and park personnel to undergo planting and flower propagation seminars and training by allocating P2 million for the said purpose.--- By Bong Cayabyab
