CA junks petition to reverse RTC ruling on Baguio IPMR

BAGUIO CITY June 14 – The 13th Division of the Court of Appeals dismissed the petition for certiorari filed by embattled city Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR) Roger Sinot that sought to assail an order handed down by a local court which granted the application for issuance of writ of preliminary injunction and denying his second motion for reconsideration.

BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Mauricio Domogan and Dept. of Energy Oil Industry Management Director Rino Abad on Wednesday agreed to cooperate to get to the bottom of the problem on the big disparity in the prices of fuel in the City vis-à-vis the lowlands.

In response to City Council Resolution Numbered 052, series of 2017 and the letter of Mayor Mauricio Domogan addressed to Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Alfonso Cusi on the unreasonable difference of prices of diesel and gasoline in the City of Baguio as compared to nearby towns, the Secretary sent Atty. Rino Abad, Director of Oil Industry Management of the DOE for a focused group discussion with the City Mayor and Members of the City Council today last June 13 and a consultation meeting with the owners/dealers of liquid fuels retail outlets/gasoline stations last June 14. ****

 

No more exemptions from parking provision rule for buildings

BAGUIO CITY – The City Government will no longer grant exemptions on the parking lot requirement for buildings within the central business district in an effort to alleviate the traffic problem besetting the City.

La Trinidad Mayor Romeo Salda led the traditional owik and tayao to kick off the 68th Foundation Anniversary with the offering and butchering of at least 21 pigs at the same time in front of the La Trinidad Municipal Hall on Thursday last week.

The town's Foundation day commemorates its founding and advancement to a regular Municipality on June 16, 1950 by virtue of Republic Act No. 531. This year's celebration has a theme of "La Trinidad towards greater heights." RMC PIA-CAR

More gas retailers needed in city

BAGUIO CITY – More fuel retail stations are needed in the City to drum up competition and encourage lower pump prices.

Dept. of Energy Oil Industry Management Director Rino Abad told Mayor Mauricio Domogan that this could be one of the subjects of investment opportunities in the City.

He said that at present the City has only 12 gas retailing stations which is relatively low when pitted with the area population.

Uniform closing time of night establishments proposed

CITY June 13 – The City Council approved on first reading a proposed ordinance making uniform the allowed closing time for all establishments in the city that operate during night time, amending for the purpose Ordinance No. 88, series of 2009.
